Hi, I'm Jen — and I started Wildflower Soapery out of pure necessity.

Like a lot of people, I struggled with dry, itchy skin and couldn't find a natural soap that actually worked for me. So I did what any determined person would do — I made my own.

A Little About Us

Behind every bar of soap is my whole family. I have a wonderfully supportive husband (17+ years and counting!), three amazing kids who work right alongside me, and a home in the Michigan countryside we share with 2 dogs and 4 chickens. Someday we're hoping to add goats to the mix — fresh goat milk straight from our backyard would be a dream come true!

Moving from the city to the country about four years ago changed the way I think about everything we put in and on our bodies. With a well on our property, what goes down the drain literally becomes our drinking water — so switching to handmade, natural soap wasn't just good for our skin, it was the right thing to do for our family and our environment.

Why Wildflower Soapery Is Different

When I started researching soap-making, I quickly noticed that most commercial soaps rely on just a handful of oils — and heavily on coconut oil. While coconut oil works for some people, for me it was stripping my skin dry. I wanted better.

At Wildflower Soapery, I use nourishing oils like avocado, sweet almond, and apricot oil — oils that feed and moisturize the skin rather than strip it. I do still use a small amount of coconut oil because it creates a beautiful lather, but just enough for the bubbles without the dryness.

From Soap to So Much More

Making soap opened the door to a whole world of experimentation. When our shower shelves started looking like a drugstore aisle, I figured there had to be a better way — so my daughters and I got to work creating our own moisturizing shampoo and conditioner bars. After hours of research and plenty of testing, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and they've been a huge hit ever since.

We're also currently testing new lotions and lip balms (the family are the official taste-testers while we fine-tune the recipes!). I'm excited to keep expanding our offerings and finding new ways to meet your needs.
