About Us

Wildflower Soapary was started to meet a personal need for a natural soap that wouldn't leave my skin feeling dry and itchy. Not finding a suitable product on the market I decided to try my hand at making one for myself.

My name is Jen I am the owner of Wildflower Soapary. I have a wonderfully supportive husband who I've been married to for over 17 years, and three of the most amazing kids on the planet, all of whom work right along side me to help make this small business dream a reality! We call Michigan home with our 2 dogs and 4 chickens. Maybe someday we'll be able to get some goats and I'll be able to use their milk for my soap, that would be fun!

Four years ago we moved from the city out to the country and that's when I really started thinking about what we put in the ground. Since we now have a well and there is a direct correlation with what goes down the drain and what becomes our drinking water, we started using handmade soap.  It’s more natural without all those harsh chemicals and it's supposed to be really good for your skin.  Better for our kids and better for our environment, it’s a win-win.

I started Wildflower Soapary because I had such dry itchy skin, and the goat milk soap I was using was just not as good as I wanted it to be. The more I researched the more I realized so many companies use only 3 oils, most of which was coconut oil. There are a lot of people who really like coconut oil. I, however, am not one of them. I have found coconut oil to be extremely drying on my skin, which propelled my decision to try my hand at making soap with oils that I like, and which would give my skin the nourishment I needed. I prefer to use oils like avocado oil, sweet almond oil, and apricot oil. I do still use coconut oil since it gives us really nice bubbles, but I just use it at a much smaller percent so we get the bubbles without stripping the skin of all of it's own natural moisture.

Making soap has led to experimenting with so many other fun products and many more to come. I went from making soap to making shampoo and conditioner bars in an attempt to declutter the bathroom. The shelves in the shower were starting to look like an isle in a drug store, bottle after bottle competing for space and just driving me crazy. While the shampoo and conditioner bars that I was finding elsewhere were ok, they were very expensive. With my newfound passion for all things bubbly, I thought “I bet I can do better”. So I did.  After hours of research, I enlisted my daughters and we created moisturizing shampoo and conditioner bars. The more people that used them, the more positive feedback I received, so I decided it was time to start selling those too. What a hit they have been!

I've also been working on some new lotions and lip balms (currently being tested out by the family, while we fine tune the recipes). I don't know what products my research will lead to next, but I am really looking forward to expanding my offerings and giving people more variety to meet their needs.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed. That said, I believe growth and improvement can only come from trial, error and honest feedback! I encourage everyone who tries my products and give honest feedback so we can keep improving.

I hope you find something at Wildflower Soapary that will make you feel wonderful! Thank you for visiting our shop.
